Dr. ZgleszewskiIn 2002, Dr. Zgleszewski (Dr. Z) founded Palmetto Spine & Sports Medicine, PA in Charleston, SC. Dr. Zgleszewski (Dr. Z) is Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. He completed a one-year Fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Pain Medicine. Dr. Z has lectured locally, regionally, and nationally on spine, pain, and orthopaedic medicine related topics.

Dr. Z approaches the Back and the rest of the Musculoskeletal System as a cardiologist would approach treating chest pain/the heart. His approach and procedure is the same as the cardiologist, diagnose first, and then treat. When was the last time you heard a cardiologist start to treat someone with chest pain before performing appropriate additional diagnostic testing? It does not happen.

For some reason many doctors who treat back pain proceed without first knowing exactly why someone is having pain. Most of the time this is done NOT via an MRI, which at times is important, but by an all but forgotten art of history taking and physical examination. By first providing an exact and accurate diagnosis, Dr. Z is often able to reduce the amount of treatment you need (including steroids); therefore, providing better results for you.

To provide you, as a patient, with the most up-to-date care possible, Dr. Z frequently attends post-graduate training and seminars. He has extensive post-graduate training in Regenerative Medicine, specifically; Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Prolotherapy, Neural Prolotherapy and Autologous Stem Cell Therapy.

Dr. Z focuses on interventional pain and spine therapy, using traditional interventional pain procedures as well as cutting edge regenerative medicine therapies to the spine and all the major joints including: the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle. This enables him to provide you with Healing for Living.
